Design

In 2013, I founded what would become Britannical London, an ethical and sustainable children’s fashion brand that handcrafts its pieces using time-honoured techniques in the heart of London. Britannical draws on a long family heritage in the textile trade and tailoring in London and has been taken forward since my initial influence by my family. From what started as an idea to revive a family tradition and bring ‘made in Britain’ back to the luxury children’s clothing market, Britannical is now a recognised brand in the childrenswear sector internationally, and particularly in the USA. It has had key strategic partnerships with retailers including Isetan (Japan), the Hudson’s Bay Company (Canada), as well as J Crew, Janie and Jack and Maisonette (USA). The brand has won several prestigious competitions and prizes, such as the Department of International Trade and the Institute of Export’s Export Action Plan contest. Its pieces have been worn by royalty and the children of notables across the world, and they have featured in a series of Hollywood, Broadway and London-based productions.

While academia has been my main focus over the past decade, I still enjoy designing for the brand and following the brand’s international growth.
